This 6 foot diameter bonfire is still mostly a mystery to us in Camp Endeavorance. We do know that, despite its massive size, it only emits the heat one would expect from a regular sized campfire. The color will change around, but mainly stays at a blue-ish tint (see the Discord emoji for color reference). It does give off smoke, but the smoke always travels directly upwards, despite any wind around it, and is also an indicator of how far you can stray from the Campfire before you reach noneuclidian spacetime.
There have been experiments with cooking in the Astral Campfire. Results always return an edible food, but sometimes transfers interesting properties or creates sentience. And, as of August 16, 2022 we have learned that the Campfire can communicate with us (though with only a single, ominous line coming from it so far).
