The Lodge disappeared for but an instant and reappeared completely redone! All new bunkrooms, a whole mailroom and more! There’s even a place to look out over the community garden.
This is a huge update and has a LOT of moving parts so here’s the rundown!
The Lodge V2
The Lodge has been overhauled into a completely new experience. Built with simplicity, speed and mobile devices in mind, it is more fun, functional and secure than ever, and sports a suite of new features!
Mobile-First
The Lodge has been totally redesigned with mobile in mind, while still providing a great Desktop/Laptop experience! Better yet, you are able to “install” it on your home screen to get a more app-like experience. Check the “share” menu of your browser to add it to your home screen!
Unified Activity Feed
Right from the homepage (once you’re logged in with your Discord account, of course!) you’ll see a unified Activity Feed with updates from Camp, Mastodon, Prose and more!

Grab the Spotlight
The Spotlight sits atop the Activity Feed and shows off the latest direct posts from Campers! The Spotlight will filter out posts so that everyone gets a chance to be seen. No one user can appear in the Spotlight more than once at a time, so everyone can be seen regardless of how often they post!
User Profiles
User Profiles are better than ever! Your profile shows your unified feed, pulling in your Camp activity, posts from Mastodon and Prose, as well as a few new features.
Set your profile to public in your Lodge settings to let the whole world see your posts! Or keep it private and just share with local Campers. (Notably, Camp-specific activity such as Vibe Checks and item drops will always be private).
Connect Your Services
Connect and manage your Mastodon, Prose and Astral Cinema accounts directly through the Lodge! Once connected, you enable additional functionality, such as aggregating your posts into your unified activity, or even posting from Discord through Campfire with the new /masto command!
Toss an Ember
Also brand new are Embers: Camp-specific posts! You can compose Embers in the Lodge and they will appear alongside the rest of your activity. A great way to post stuff without needing anything more than your Discord account!
Botany UI
The Lodge supports a fully fledged user interface for the Botany Camper skill! Manage your plants, restock your Silkwater and help your fellow Campers water their plants all from within the Lodge!
Forecast UI
Check the Astral forecast with ease! Current conditions will always display in the Navigation sidebar, or head to the new Forecast page in the Lodge to see the next 12 hours of projected weather in the Astral Realm.
Additionally, the Lodge displays any notable effects that Weather may have.
Camp Mail
When the Lodge blinked for a moment, it returned with a full mailroom! Weird!
You now have a Mailbox in the Lodge where letters from Campers and other beings from the Realm will arrive. You can send mail to other Campers via the Lodge.
The Camp Mail system replaces a handful of notifications that were previously public alerts. To keep things relevant to folks, those alerts (such as notifications when watering someone else’s plant) have been converted to Mail.
Campfire Settings & Features
You can now configure Campfire to behave as you prefer! Set your notification and pronoun preferneces in the Lodge to make Campfire adapt to your needs!
Notification Reactions
Campfire will react to your messages in Discord with different emoji to subtly alert you to ongoing stuff! In addition to the existing ”📦” reaction when an item drops for you, Campfire will now occasionally react with ”📬” if you have unread letters in your mailbox! Both of these reactions can be toggled on or off in the Lodge settings.
Pronoun Preference
Campfire can now be asked to use your preferred pronouns when referring to you. While this doesn’t affect too many messages right now, it will more over time. Supported pronoun options are:
- She/her
- He/him
- They/them (default)
- It/Its
- Xe/Xim
More pronoun options can be added over time if requested.
Command Emoji
Campfire learned a few new tricks! Introducing Command Emoji. Just like using the ⭐️ emoji as a reaction on messages to push them to the Starboard, you can now use a couple of new emoji to react to your own messages to instruct Campfire to do stuff!
:posttomastodon:- Post the content of a message in Discord to your Mastodon account on Astral.Camp (must be connected via the Lodge):postember:- Convert a message in Discord into an Ember post on your Lodge profile
These emoji only work on your messages in Discord. Once the command complete, Campfire will also react to the message with ”✅” to let you know the job is done.
Activity Feed Discord Channel
The #campfire-logs channel has dissolved and is now #activity-feed! This channel will post nicely formatted embeds of incoming Camper activity from all Camp properties, including Mastodon posts, Prose blogs and more.
