These blood red rays are known to hang around the Sand Burrow Axolotls’ colonies. These magnificent creatures act as protectors for the colonies, fending off predators and thieves in exchange for food and shelter. These rays are generally limited in their size by the colony they protect, the bigger the colony, the bigger the ray. As the Scarlet Ray grows, they develop better defense mechanisms, allowing them to effectively scare off or beat larger creatures. Despite their formidable prowess, the Scarlet Ray is a omnivore, primarily feeding on the plankton, seeds and nuts that the clan can bring them. When the last Scarlet Ray to a clan dies, their body leaves eggs for the axolotl clan to collect and start new colonies elsewhere.
