Dry ingredients:

2 cups of all purpose flour

4 Tablespoons sugar

3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

Pinch of salt

Optional: 1 teaspoon of cinnamon

Optional: lemon or orange zest

Optional: any other flavorings you’d like.

Wet Ingredients:

1 cup milk of choice. I’ve found you can also use coffee creamer for added flavors.

1 large egg 6 tablespoons unsalted butter melted

Instructions:

Start by combining your flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt into a bowl.

Then in a separate measuring cup, whisk together milk, the large egg, melted butter.

Now pour the wet mixture into the flour mixture.

Use a spatula to give the donut dough a good mix.

Next:

Pour in about 2 inches of neutral frying oil into a pot.

Then bring the oil temperature to 350°F.

The best way to measure your oil temperature is by using an instant-read thermometer.

Using a cookie scoop, drop in 1 tablespoon-sized balls of the dough into the hot oil.

Fry the doughnut holes for about 2 minutes making sure to fry both sides.

Keep them moving by gently pushing them around so they don’t burn.

Also, make sure not to overcrowd your frying pot.

The doughnut holes will expand when frying!

Once golden brown, use a large slotted spoon to transfer the doughnut holes to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.

Once the doughnut holes have cooled slightly, you can roll them in powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar.

You can also make a glaze for them!

All that’s left to do is enjoy .
